“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Psalm 73:26.
The following verse sums up the idea that it is not a question of if our hearts and flesh will fail, but when they will. The author of Scripture understood that we would need these comforting words, even decades later. They knew we would need to be reminded that we can’t do everything and that we were not meant to. Don’t let your lack of ability or weaknesses be your stopping point. Instead, this is where God’s grace shines through.
Think of it this way: in our weakness, God’s power is made clear. Just like Paul says in 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
Be encouraged on your Christian journey, which is long and full of twists and turns. You will surely struggle at times but remember that you serve a God who has overcome the world! He is perfect in every way and has promised to be with us every step of the way, guiding us with His love and wisdom.
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10
