Can you believe summer is almost here? The season we look forward to all year seems to arrive in an instant, and if we’re not careful, it can pass just as quickly. Days become filled with activities, vacations, family gatherings, and countless opportunities to enjoy the longer hours of sunlight. Yet summer is more than a busy season it is an invitation. It invites us to slow down, to delight in God’s creation, and to experience renewal in body, mind, and spirit. Whether traveling to breathtaking destinations or simply enjoying the beauty of a backyard sunset, we are surrounded by reminders of God’s presence, creativity, and love. Summer also offers space to reconnect with God through prayer, reflection, and quiet listening. In these moments of rest and renewal, we discover fresh strength and perspective. We return to our jobs, our ministry, and our communities with renewed energy, deeper faith, and greater clarity. God invites us to rest not because God needs a break from us, but because God desires our well-being and delights in our wholeness.
Remember who God is.
- He is the God who rested after creating and who made you in his image, to enter his rest (Genesis 1:1, 1:26, 2:2 ).
- He is the God who thought rest so important, he made it a commandment (Exodus 20:8-11).
- He is the God who said, in his Son, “Come unto me…and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).
- God is all-powerful. He is perfectly able to give you the rest that he purposed and commands and promises (Psalm 4:8; 23:2–3; 127:1–2).
