Living A Thankful Life

How many times a day do you say thank you? How often do we thank our families, colleagues, friends, or strangers for their acts of kindness?

When we cultivate thankfulness, or gratitude into our lives, there are so many benefits. Our physical, social, emotional, and spiritual well-being are strengthened when we live a life of gratitude. This could be as simple as a quick thank you when someone holds a door open for you, or as intentional as seeking out an individual to thank them for something they did for us in the past. Not only do we personally reap the benefits, but the recipient of our thankfulness is blessed.

As believers, we want thankfulness to the Lord to be a constant in our lives. Take a few moments to think about the goodness of the Lord and thank Him for his many blessings in our lives. In Psalm 136:1 we are encouraged to “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for his steadfast love endures forever.” Right now, think of three things you are thankful for, and make it a point to thank God, and if appropriate, thank the person involved. May we continue to look for ways each day to show thankfulness. Let’s practice living a thankful life!
