Happy New Year! Jeremiah 29:11 is a well-known and favorite scripture for many. It’s an appropriate Scripture to reflect on during a new year. It’s full of hope and assurance. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
This is a perfect verse to meditate upon at the start of the new year. It’s a common assumption that Christians have a worry-free life, when in reality, we face the same challenges and struggles as everyone else. However, having faith, hope, prayer, and serving a living Savior are the cornerstones of our belief system that help us navigate through difficult times and find peace in the midst of chaos. Loving God, serving God, and knowing God doesn’t mean life will be without trials and tribulations. Quite often there are turns, twists, and spiritual battles along the way, particularly when we seek to do His will. But, keeping our eyes fixed on God and holding on to His promises, we can enter the New Year with anticipation and hope for what lies ahead.
So, if you are concerned about the year ahead, step out in faith. You don’t need to worry about all the details. You just need to be in step with His purpose and plans for your life.
