The verse from Corinthians reminds us to be patient and kind, even though many of us may struggle with it. This message can be challenging, but it is essential to reflect on how it applies to our own lives. It emphasizes the significance of God’s love, which works within us and strengthens us to embody these virtues.
1 Corinthians 13:4 NIV states, “Love is patient, love is kind”. I particularly like the King James Version of that verse that states, “Charity suffereth long, and is kind.” It intones that we remain steadfast, enduring provocation, unease, anxiety, and indignation in favor to giving the person of our affection the benefit of a doubt. Even when we are annoyed and offended, we must be patient and kind with our spouse, coworker, or neighbor, showing them the same mercy that God in Christ showed us.
